NAN'S SEED STARTING FAQ

What are the course dates?

Easy Seed Starting Online Course runs March 1 through July 15, 2023. You can start anytime in that window but it is best to start by June 1st.

  • Easy Seed Starting In-Person, Floral Studio Experience is Saturday March 11 from 10 am to 1 pm.
  • Easy Seed Starting In-Person, Historic Balboa Park, Sunday March 19 from 1 pm to 4 pm.

Easy Seed Starting In-Person participants have access to the online course as well.

How does this program work?

Easy Seed Starting Online Course is self-paced. Log into the course to follow a series of step-by-step videos that walk you through starting seeds, raising seedlings, and planting them into your garden.

Easy Seed Starting In Person includes the online course PLUS a half day, hands-on experience with Nan Sterman. During the hands-on experience, Nan guides you through planting your entire spring/summer vegetable garden from seed. You take everything home, ready to sprout. All participants in every workshop have access to a large Facebook support group as well as live Zoom coaching sessions that Nan Sterman hosts twice a month.

What happens live and what do I do on my own?

For the Easy Seed Starting Online Course, log in to the Easy Seed Starting Online website to find the video series. Work through the videos on your own schedule and at your own pace up until July 15th. Twice a month, Nan holds a live coaching session on Zoom. Once you log into the workshop, you’ll find the Zoom calendar with dates and times. In addition, our online community of veteran Seed Starters offer their support and wisdom.

In the in-person, hands-on workshops, Nan Sterman leads you through the planting process. You take home your entire garden, seeded and ready to sprout. You also have access to the video series, live coaching sessions, and online community of veteran Seed Starters.

How long do I have access to the course?

You have access to the online course videos from March 1 through July 15, 2023. By July 15th, you should have completed planting your summer vegetable garden. You have lifetime access to the online Seed Starter community.

Do I need to work through the videos in order?

Yes

Can I watch the videos more than once?

You can watch the videos as many times as you like, whenever you like, between the time you enroll and July 15, 2023.

Are you sending me everything I need?

If you signed up for an in person workshop, all your supplies are provided on-site.

If you signed up for the online course, we send you seeds, a special seed starting container, and some harder-to-find items. You’ll get a shopping list of supplies you can find easily in local nurseries.

Where is the shopping list?

There’s a shopping list in the box we send you, we’ll email it to you, and there is a pdf copy attached to the course videos. If you have trouble finding it, please email hello@waterwisegardener.com for help.

When are the live Zoom coaching sessions?

Nan holds a live coaching sessions on Zoom twice a month on Tuesday nights, from 7 to 8:30 pm (PST) from March through mid July 2023. Check the course calendar for links to the Zooms.

What are we planting?

You are planting a wide variety of seeds, including annual vegetables, fruits, flowers, and herbs - all of which we send you.

Do I have to use the seeds Nan sent me?

Please use the seeds we send you.

Where do buy seeds when I want more?

There are many high-quality seed vendors online and excellent seeds available at your local independent nurseries. One of our favorite online sources is Renee’s Garden seeds.

Does this course make a mess?

Yes! It makes a great big mess and mess is part of gardening, so enjoy!

Can I share my online course link with friends?

As with all courses, each registration is for one person. Sharing the link is a violation of the terms and conditions you agree to when you purchase the online course.

Will this online course work for me, regardless of where I live?

Nan's techniques for starting seeds indoors will work for you no matter where you garden.  

Is my success guaranteed?

While there are no guarantees in life, hundreds of home gardeners have been successful using Nan’s techniques and we’re sure you will be, too.
